Commercial Yeast Strains These are some of my own notes on yeasts. Personally, I find the brewery where the yeast originated more useful to me than some company ID number such as Wyeast 3787 (Westmalle, in case you were wondering). I've tried to accumulate a list of the breweries associated with the more popular commercial yeast strains. If there are any additions or corrections, just drop me a note.
Culturing Yeast and Using Slats Information contained here was retrieved from various internet sources, such as the Home Brew Digest, the Usenet newsgroup rec.crafts.brewing, and the Yeast.FAQ, compiled by Patrick Weix and available via anonymous FTP at the Stanford homebrew archive. Particular acknowledgement is due to Jack Schmidling, whose r.c.b. post on this subject motivated me to finally get going on doing this. Note: I use metric units throughout this document--sorry, you're just going to have to live with it!
Danstar Yeast Descriptions Lallemand, the world's leading specialty active dried yeast producer, has been producing fermentation products since the 1970's.
